Gee, there are a lot of professional palaeontologists providing opinion here..................
I may as well pretend to be one too.................
I like the quills on the crest; but it may make it difficult to be an ambush hunter..............
The other quills might make it a bit difficult to actually eat its prey [if it managed to catch any.....].
But then, it may be like a modern lion and sends of "the women folk" to go and to all the hunting.........
And this is all assuming that this is a male..................
Now, for the artistic appraisal [for which I am equally qualified ;-)]; wonderful [despite it being the 'wrong' angle for the quills to make sense; although I think we all managed to work out that the quills are pointing backwards. But I'm not too sure that some know their right from their left.........].

look wonderful! though the perspectiv eof the spines make it look lik the ones ont he left side of his face are angled back, but the ones on the right side are angled forward... the face looks too much in profile, turned further toward a front view, for a clearer 3/4, would help the spines make more sense... :)

I am in complete agreement with this restoration. When the discovery of this taxon was first discussed in paleo circles I concluded that the crest may have supported a feather display.

Very interesting. That's one of those things I never would have thought of, but it makes sense that the crest might be the anchor to some larger structure. I'm not sold on those cheek quills, though. I imagine they would get in the way of things a bit, unless they folded against the neck à la Jurassic Park's version of Dilophosaurus.

Why not? I'm sure real-life dinosaurs had far stranger soft tissue displays than this. Great job!
